Beautiful Cliché by Chopen

This photography is called "Beautiful Cliché" by Chopen who is desired to express the cliché of this beautiful photo. To begin with, the wheel prints at the bottom of the photo is pulling viewers' attention to the prints because wheel prints are not seen on a beach. So, the cliché is the wheel prints that kind of separated the photo into two. Moreover, this photo is beautiful and romantic scenery on the beach with a couple strolling along the beach. However, the wheel prints destroyed the romantic mood and the beautiful environment of the beach. Lastly, at the top of the photo, there are clouds that are crosses like the letter "x" which shows negativity about the picture. So, this photo itself is ironic. Therefore, the cliché of the photo sways viewers' attention to either the wheel prints or the cloud in the sky, rather than the beautiful and romantic day of the couple on the beach.

Postmodern Alice

This piece of artwork is called Postmodern Alice. Alice is definitely the royal young lady in the staircases because of her dress and elegant posture. The heart bubbles, and a floating clock is ticking every minute make this artwork a fantasy place. But, the young man's clothing at the bottom of the picture is modern -like outfit, rather than a suit like a prince. The tie is not properly tied, and the coat is not button-up where a prince would dress all formal. So, the appearance of the two people on the staircases, both describes the used of appropriation. The artists used appropriation because he or she changed the prince and princess figurative image that I had pictured in story books. Another postmodern visual strategy is layering because the background consists of the drawn window with prints on it, and the wall of symbolic meanings to it. A So, the layering of the background created a postmodern artwork.

Post 8: First Quarter Reflection

In the first quarter of art was amazing. I learned many different art perspectives, and art criticism. Perspective in art creates criticism and different purposes. From that I also learned that art is not just a written or drawn object, but it is beyond that. Art has many meanings to define them. So, art does not have a specific definition to the art world. Additionally, art had many definitions and varieties to explain what art is. Art may mean beauty, idealism, decoration, creativity, etc. In art creativity class, we also learned the elements and principles of art. We used element and principle to make an accordion book. This project was enjoyable because I got a clearer definition of how to apply elements and principles to art. Therefore, the first quarter of art was great because I learned many new art topics beyond drawing and painting.
